- Are you struggling with stress, anxiety, frustration or anger?
- Or what about impulsivity, decision making or relationships?
- Are you struggling to cope with some of the behaviours?
- Do you wish there was someone there for you?
Hi, my name is Maggie and I’m an ADHD Coach and EFT Practitioner. I help people around the world from the comfort of their own home with all of the above.
Living with ADHD can be a gift. We’re creative, resilient, full of energy, spontaneous, sensitive, funny, loving, kind and a whole bunch of other adjectives.
It can also be a challenge. Inattentivness, distractability, impulsivity, risk taking, indecisiveness, forgetting things, and carelessness can all be frustrating for us.
It can be equally frustrating as a parent, partner, support worker or teacher of someone with ADHD.
When that person is a child, their resistance to anything they don’t want to do is phenomenal and the mess, noise or length of time it takes to do something is astounding!
When that person is a partner, whilst they’ve learnt skills to navigate life, it can be frustrating when their hyperfocus gets in the way of quality time together, time management gets in the way of plans or there’s a trail of mess that follows them around the house.
Whilst there’s plenty of information out there to help understand ADHD including strategies to put in place to help life flow more smoothly, what’s out there to help with the inevitable stress and frustration we experience on a day to day basis?
This is where Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or tapping) can really help!
What is EFT?
EFT helps a broad range of issues. The foundations of EFT are based in positive psychology and it gradually improves emotional and physical wellbeing.
EFT can help with stress, anger, anxiety, fear, PTSD, depression, phobias, emotional and physical pain, grief, weight loss and food cravings amongst others. It can help you find clarity with decision-making. All of these and more have seen improvement with EFT.
EFT is the tapping on acupressure points located on the main meridians, or energy channels, that run through the body. It targets the underlying emotions, thoughts and feelings around emotional and physical pain.
It works by balancing and/or eliminating the energy disruption in the body’s energy system. These disruptions in energy are associated with negative emotions. And while this sounds a little bit “out-the-box” or “woowoo”, a lot of research has been conducted into the efficacy of EFT with some amazing results. If you’d like to read some of the research available, visit EFT Research.
Why Should I Work With A Practitioner?
You don’t need to work with a Practitioner if you don’t want to. EFT is a technique that can be learned and applied by yourself. I have a YouTube channel where you can tap along to some videos that may provide help.
However, whilst tapping along to a generic video on YouTube can help to some extent, it isn’t personalised and so you may find it doesn’t quite ‘hit the spot’.
Some people prefer to work with a Practitioner who can use a variety of techniques to help them identify and work on the negative emotions specific to them. Working with a Practitioner will also help you get to the root cause of your emotions faster if you find the problem difficult to shift.
